All that glitters: Demen is a spirit of wealth and the material, capable of manifesting or briefly reinforcing physical objects through the use of his magic. Items or affects of any significant usefulness require an action point and a roll against the appropriate Magic discipline, with difficulty set at moderator discretion.

As you wish: Though not compelled to do so, Demen is naturally drawn to fulfilling explicit requests made by virtually anyone, especially the current custodian of his Thurible. Conversely, left to his own devices he's not terribly self-motivating.

Smoke and mirrors: Despite his mostly-human appearance, Demen's physical manifestation is primarily formed of congealed smoke. Lacking flesh and blood he can survive on sleep alone, but can only be healed through the use of restorative magic. A stiff breeze can also he can also give him a variety of troubles.

Home-body: Demen is tied to this world by the Thurible that he retreats to when resting. Though not exactly protective of the object, he is uncomfortable when it's out of his sight.

Personal History

Demen has been passed around discretely from master to master as far back as he's willing to discuss. In spite of the occasional brush with the groups interested in the preternatural, he managed to remain blissfully unnoticed by the world up until The Event. Since that day and the subsequent death of his master he has remained sleeping within his thurible, as no one has attempted to rouse him.

He introduces himself as a Genie for simplicity's sake, but is not a Djinn in the traditional Arabic sense. As to his exact origins, Demen appears compelled to evade discussion of the subject.

Appears as a middle-aged man wearing a toga formed from thick, sooty smoke. Withdraws into the thurible (traditional incense burner) to rest, when bored, etc., and can generally be awoken from it with sufficient jostling. Thurible smokes slightly and smells of spiced incense when he is within, but remains cool to the touch.
