Hugo Dice

Player Name

Ragazzo

Name

Hugo Dice.

Concept

An Infectiously UnLucky Son Of A Bitch.

Power

Triumph Of Whim: In extremely dire situations, with GM approval, by expending all AP, Hugo can roll 1d5. On a four or five, a ludicrously improbable event that greatly favors the group will occur. Results are at GM Discretion.

Aspects

MisFortune: Subconsciously alters the probability of events, as dictated by his state of mind. If positive, confident, or determined about doing something, he'll often succeed. The reverse is also true, if Hugo feels he's bound to fail, he likely will. Similarly, how Hugo feels about the actions of another character can influence how likely they are to succeed. Or not.
It couldn't have gone differently: Hugo, despite his last name, doesn't believe in chance. Things go the way do because they were going to all along. As such, Hugo is a calm, open-minded individual that near instantaneously adjusts to developments, and reacts as he sees fit. Isn't easily struck by indecision, or doubt. Unfortunately, this also means that if Hugo is persuaded to look unfavorably on a situation's outcomes, it can be hard to change his mind.
Weighed Against A Leaden Feather: Hugo doesn't believe in evil for the sake of evil, cruelty for no other reason then to be cruel, action without cause, charity without consideration. He is loathe to give aid to those who might bring about harm later. His heart, while not weightless, is far from iron.

Personal History

Hugo's a pensioner, or rather was before the Event. Also was an exile from his home country of Hungary, as well as several others prior to the end of the world. After working as a miner from age 18 to 22, Hugo shifted his career to fishing. Mr. Dice found more to contend with aboard the vessel he'd joined then bad weather, there was plenty of it, and quarrelsome crabs, although he had more then his fair share of that too. After an improbably bad storm, Hugo and his fellows' ship, the Szeszély (Whim, in hungarian) had been pushed well off their circuit and left them dead in the water. Radio was out. They'd lost a few people during the storm as well. Things looked up, when a cargo ship came up on radar after a day, and was successfully signaled. To cut a long story short, the cargo ship was an MC&D vessel, transporting 'goods'. The crew of the MC&D ship often took their favorite pieces of 'cargo' to bed with them at night. By a twist of fortune, aided by curiosity, Hugo and his friends soon discovered the nature of these 'goods'. None of the fellows in hugo's company were particularly pious, but they were hard-faced, usually mostly honest, overall decent men. After some deliberation, it was decided. A bloody, and drawn out takeover of the vessel began, ending after a week. Almost impossibly, just almost, the only blood spilled was that of the other side. The ship was renamed 'Diadala Szeszély'. Triumph of Whim. The pieces of 'cargo' aboard the ship that had inflamed the souls of Hugo and his friends were set free, or returned to their homes. More then a handful stayed with Hugo and his crew, who had talks of starting up a transport company, with their new boat. Once it had been suitably refurbished, of course. The business went well, for Hugo, and ended eventually with him retiring, after many more improbable adventures, and just as many tragedies. The latter of which all occurred away from the Diadala Szeszély. Hugo was loathe to leave the large ship, which he viewed as more of a home then his country of birth. Not really surprising, considering he'd left there after a ruckus that had occurred when he and some friends stumbled into a CotBG ritual sacrifice on the way to a pub one night. The sacrifice was completed, unfortunately, but Hugo and his friends helped the cultists who were so eager to spill blood for their god, do so. Had returned to the seas, his friends, his family, and his home, aboard the Diadala Szeszély some months prior to the event, and was at sea whe nit occurred. Very luckily, a patch of sea far enough from everything that it didn't churn and boil, and swallow Hugo and his company alive. And now he wanders.

Miscellaneous

XZbvH.jpg
As tough as a 100 year old brick wall, and just as weathered looking. In his late forties, or mid fifties. Looks like a hobo, for all his old, and thick bundled coats, and scuffed up pants. Seems to have a propensity for woolen clothing.
