A Shrink That Really Fucks With Your Head

Induce Hallucinations: After a run-in with a powerful reality-bender shortly after the fall, Nick was stricken with constant visual and auditory hallucinations. Over the past year he has learned to control these hallucinations and transfer them onto others, both focused and over an area. For the cost of 1 AP he can manifest them for utility purposes, such as creating a distraction or restricting movement of his foes to provide allies with an attack of opportunity, or diminishing their accuracy or focus for an attack or defense debuff. For the cost of 2 AP he can use these hallucinations offensively, creating visions so real and convincing the enemy takes genuine damage from it, as their mind makes it real. Higher level trickery is useable at the GM'S discretion, with the GM also deciding an appropriate AP cost at the time of use.

Adaptable: Nick is good at keeping a cool head when stuff starts getting crazy. He gets in a mode, just letting autopilot take over and staying at his sharpest. He doesn't really get in those modes when everything's calm, but he doesn't need to.
Committed: Nick grows to be extremely protective of his friends and family. He will throw himself into harm's way to protect those he cares about, attempting staggering feats of heroics to keep them safe. Sometimes these heroics work out for the better, but sometimes he'll bite off more than he can chew.
Perceptive: Nick has a keen sense of empathy and tends to pick up on small, easy-to-miss tells that show when someone isn't being totally up front with him.
Psychiatrist: Before the fall, Nick had a reputable private psychiatry practice. His extensive training in this field coupled with an uncanny knack for reading people makes him quite skilled at helping people come to terms with their various emotional baggage. However, it also increases his drive to help those he feels he can, sometimes getting involved with situations he perhaps shouldn't.

Personal History

Born in Texas and adopted at an early age, Nick had a fairly average upbringing, with no truly notable events. From a young age he developed a strong sense of empathy, instilled by his family, which grew into a drive to help others and an innate ability to read people. Often called on as a mediator, he was eventually advised to pursue a career in psychiatry, which he took to with great skill and joy. After having run a moderately successful private practice for several years, following his personal drive to help anyone he could, he was thoroughly contented and felt as if nothing could ruin his idyllic, happy life. Then the fall came. In the ensuing chaos, he lost his wife, his family, and everything he held dear. Left with nowhere to call home he took to wandering the wastes aimlessly, scavenging what he could find and surviving simply to survive. Early on in his travels he met a peculiar fellow who seemed to be in need of his services. This turned out to be a near-fatal mistake. The man was a powerful reality-bender who took terrible offense at his attempts to "fix" him. In his anger, he cursed Nick with a continuous stream of visual and auditory hallucinations. Unable to tell the visions apart from reality, Nick spent the better part of a year learning to control them, and eventually, he developed the ability to project them onto others at will. He used these to defend himself during his travels across the hostile territory that was once his homeland, hiding when he could, fighting when he had no other choice. It was during these travels that he chanced upon a mysterious convoy…
