Black Doctrine: “Solomon” is a practitioner of worldly dark magics, his study spanning over the principals of necromancy, voodoo, witchcraft, and many other, lesser-known practices. Solomon's knowledge of these arts is immense, giving him a supernatural (if tainted) command of reality. His Black Magic skill can be used in a number of versatile, dangerous, frightening, or abhorrent ways, but often require rare or difficult material components. Spectacular effects cost at least 1 AP.

Many of the aforementioned spectacular effects are listed in Solomon's spellbook, which is available to any GM upon request.

Left-Handed Scholar: Solomon has spent a large portion of his considerable life traveling the land, sea, and Ways in pursuit of the study of magic, paranormal lore, and dark taboos. His craftiness and ruthless survival instinct has earned him secret knowledge of the Hidden Path that most practitioners could not reach for fear of a gruesome death – or worse. But it is not without consequences. Solomon's old, scorned body is kept alive by a combination of magical wards, potent alchemy, and mystical pacts with outsiders. And of course his meticulous caution.
”Some call me mad…”: Solomon is more than resourceful and ruthless; he's a genius without a conscience. The Black Way demands it. Solomon does what it takes to pursue his grim profession without regard to humanity. Fear and guilt are nothing but wariness and ends justified by means respectively. In regard to his magic, this outlook makes him a born scavenger and opportunist who won't hesitate to salvage useful body parts from even a recently-dead friend.
Guardian Parasite: One of the above-mentioned pacts to sustain Solomon's life and grant him the power to continue the draining practice of black arts was that of a symbiotic union. Solomon was joined with an entity who occupies his body in the form of a brain-eating amoeba. This being is mysterious in power, intelligence, and motive, but essentially protects its host by offering unique insight and allowing Solomon to proceed using his multitude of dark magics without such a high cost to his body, mind, and soul. In exchange, Solomon is to occasionally carry out the parasite's alien will.

Tattoo (Sun & Moon): This black sun rests on Solomon's right hip and rises up across his body, reaching noon at his heart, and sunset at his left shoulder, where its rays fade and it becomes a pale white full moon that descends diagonally across his back. This eternal orbit greatly lessens Solomon's need for food, water, and sleep. A great way to tell time as well.

Aside from relatively normal personal effects, Solomon possesses a great number of things carried in several old cases and boxes. These are mostly alchemical reagents or magical components ranging from simple herbs to human body parts and beyond. He has some pretty strange oddities as well. There are, however, a few notable curiosities about his person, which are detailed below in his description.

Personal Information

“Solomon,” is what the former college professor calls himself. Now an man defying death by seeking mastery of it, Solomon is the product of determination, luck, and exchanging human compassion for the pursuit of knowledge.

Solomon is a thin, wiry, man of above-average height and unidentifiable nationality. His plainly-colored eyes are sunken into a thin face. His skin is darkly tan and pale in varying patches all over his body. The top of Solomon's forehead and scalp are marred by a sickly, green-tinted burn scar, making a lopsided bald-crown of his short, dark, stringy hair. He is worn and weathered; obvious in his age, but not venerable.

Solomon dresses warmly in a new-looking black hooded sweatshirt over an old, torn and tattered trench coat, along with some dark blue sweat pants (they read 'THU' in faded gold letters down the left leg) with a generic pair of tennis shoes. His left ear and the skin around it appear to be made of dark green glass. Around his right wrist is a crudely woven bracelet with a number of attached baubles hanging off of it by string, including a small bone, a dessicated human eyeball, a thin shard of petrified wood, a locust carapace, and a small feline skull. There are many such trinkets about Solomon's person, as well as pouches or vials alchemical substances tucked into sewn-on pockets in the coat or leather belt. The belt buckle is big and shiny silver, depicting a skull crossed from behind by two rifle bullets. Slung around his shoulder are two tan denim messenger bags that are covered in symbols written in permanent marker.
